Number to Words in Nepali and English

Write any number in words in Nepali and in English, using lakh and crore or million and billion. Switch to money for cheque wording.

Lakh, crore, arab and kharab

Nepal counts large numbers in lakh and crore rather than million and billion. After the first thousand, each new name is 100 times the one before.

NameNepaliNumberInternational
Hundredसय100100
Thousandहजार1,0001 thousand
Lakhलाख1,00,000100 thousand

Arabअर्ब1,00,00,00,0001 billion
Kharabखर्ब1,00,00,00,00,000100 billion

Each number from 1 to 99 has its own word in Nepali, such as उनन्चालीस (39) and पैँतालीस (45), so larger numbers are read in parts: 1,23,45,678 is एक करोड तेइस लाख पैँतालीस हजार छ सय अठहत्तर.
