Nepali land measurement units
Nepal uses two systems. In the hills and the Kathmandu valley, land is measured in ropani, aana, paisa and daam. In the Terai, it is measured in bigha, kattha and dhur. Land ownership certificates (lalpurja) usually write an area as four or three numbers, such as 0-4-2-1 (ropani-aana-paisa-daam) or 1-5-10 (bigha-kattha-dhur).
